Preparing Your Child For Success
At Head Start, we believe that you—the parent—are your child’s most important teacher. You play a vital role in your child’s growth and development. Together with Head Start staff and volunteers, you help build a strong foundation for your child’s success in school and in life.
Tips For A Successful School-Day
-
Start the Day with Positivity: A smile, a hug, and a kind word can help set the tone for a great school day.
-
Prioritize Rest: Young children learn best when they get the recommended 10 to 12 hours of sleep each night.
-
Provide Nutritious Meals: A balanced diet supports learning and overall health. Try to limit processed or sugary foods.
-
Dress for the Weather: Check the local forecast to ensure your child wears appropriate clothing for the day.
-
Keep Your Child Home When Sick: Help prevent the spread of illness by following health guidelines. Keep our "Healthy Reminder" sheet on your fridge for quick reference. If unsure, call your child’s Head Start center before sending them to school.
-
Label Belongings: Many children have similar items, so clearly labeling your child's belongings helps prevent mix-ups and lost items.
